Azzarello does it again

on 11/21/2008

Brian Azzarello rarely disappoints with his stories. A fitting writer for such a story and setting.

Praise
"Taking the POV of one of his henchmen, Azzarello and Bermejo's Joker represents pure, unadulterated, serial-killer evil. As Bermejo's cover image suggests, this joker's smile has teeth."
From the Publisher
Annotation In the year that Heath Leger notoriously (and tragically) reintroduced the Joker to the big screen in THE DARK KNIGHT as a chasm of tortured psychology, Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo (known for the LEX LUTHOR series) contribute their own seriously sinister addition to the Joker's oeuvre. To everyone's chagrin the wide-smiling prankster manages to wiggle out of Arkham Asylum, and he has a long list of scores to settle--with the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face, and other criminals who've expanded their reaches while he's been locked up. In THE JOKER, Azzarello and Bermejo fully unleash this iconic character's potential for brutality and violent perversity.
Editors Note An original hardcover graphic novel that tells the story of one very dark night in Gotham City--from the creative team behind the graphic novel LEX LUTHOR: MAN OF STEEL.The Joker has been mysteriously released from Arkham Asylum, and he's none to happy about what's happened to his Gotham City rackets while he's been "away." What follows is a harrowing night of revenge, murder and manic crime as only The Joker can deliver it, as he brutally takes back his stolen assets from The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face, Killer Croc and others. Brian Azzarello brings to THE JOKER all the visceral intensity and criminal insight that has made his Vertigo graphic novel series 100 BULLETS one of the most critically-acclaimed and award-winning series in all of comics.
