Problems are made to be solved, Melody reminds us, and the best thing we can do is take responsibility for our own pain and self-care. In this daily inspirational book, Melody provides us with a thought to guide us through the day and she encourages us to remember that each day is an opportunity for growth and renewal.

Annotation:
Melody Beattie, author of CO-DEPENDENT NO MORE, wrote this inspiring entry in the series of meditation books published by the respected rehab center, Hazelden. Based on the teachings of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon, as well as on nondenominational spirituality, it is aimed specifically at those people struggling to free themselves from unhealthy relationships. The book is filled with inspirational food for thought on topics such as setting boundaries, goals, and limits; the difficult process of learning self-acceptance, even self-love; and, of course, how to leave a loved one who has become "toxic" to your well being. You can also learn to accept help, to turn defeat into its own sort of victory, and to detach from family issues.
Author Bio
Melody Beattie
Melody Beattie is recognized as a major figure in the field of self-help and recovery. Her book "Codependent No More" is a groundbreaking text in the field and has been a top seller since its publication in 1987. Beattie has been in recovery herself, and she shares her experiences in her book, as well as her own experiences with codependency. Although she worked as a counselor, Beattie does not have any advanced degrees in the field. In an afterword, she writes, "This book is just an opinion..." "Beyond Codependency", about healthy healing, and "The Language of the Heart", a book of meditations, follow from her earlier work. In "Stop Being Mean to Yourself", she recounts her journey to Morocco, Algiers, and Egypt, and she seems headed toward new ground, perhaps away from 12-step programs to another experience of self-esteem.
