Author Info
Nelson Demille
A native of Long Island, Nelson DeMille played football and ran track in high school. He attended Hofstra University for three years before joining the Army, serving in Vietnam as a Second Lieutenant and infantry platoon leader in the First Cavalry Division. After returning home from the war, he graduated from Hofstra, married, had two children, and after a divorce, married for a second time. DeMille is a member of the Authors Guild, the Mystery Writers of America, and American Mensa. While his first published novels were mysteries featuring the New York Police Department, DeMille garnered most of his fame and fortune writing political and international thrillers that demonstrated his flair for suspense, adventure, and romance.
Praise
"Fast-paced....[T]hose who enjoy starkly black-and-white battles between good and evil will be satisfied."
"DeMille is a brisk storyteller whose hero, retired but hardly inactive federal anti-terrorist agent John Corey, is a talented wisecracker."
From the Publisher
Editors Note In this eagerly awaited follow-up to The Lion's Game, John Corey, former NYPD Homicide detective and special agent for the Anti-Terrorist Task Force, is back. And, unfortunately for Corey, so is Asad Khalil, the notorious Libyan terrorist otherwise known as "The Lion." Last we heard from him, Khali had claimed to be defecting to the US only to unleash the most horrific reign of terrorism ever to occur on American soil. While Corey and his partner, FBI agent Kate Mayfield, chased him across the country, Khalil methodically eliminated his victims one by one and then disappeared without a trace. Now, years later, Khalil has returned to America to make good on his threats and take care of unfinished business. "The Lion" is a killing machine once again loose in America with a mission of revenge, and John Corey will stop at nothing to achieve his own goal -- to find and kill Khahil.
Annotation When Asad Khalil's family was killed during the American bombing of Libya, the young man became an unwavering enemy of the global superpower. His mission of revenge brought him head to head with NYPD detective and Anti-Terrorist Task Force leader John Corey in Nelson DeMille's previous heart-pounding novel, THE LION'S GAME. All was not resolved, however, and Khalil, whose code name is "The Lion," plans to return to the U.S. and unleash his most devastatingly destructive plot yet. But if Khalil is singular in his vindictive purpose, equally so is Corey: working tirelessly with his partner Kate Mayfield, he will not rest until Khalil's violent fire is smothered.
