The hero of Nicholas Sparks's new novel believes he's found one in the form of a photograph of a smiling woman he's never met, but who he comes to believe holds the key to his destiny. The chain of events that leads to him possessing the photograph and finding the woman pictured in it is the stuff of love stories only a master such as Sparks can write.
Annotation:
Logan Thibault, a U.S. Marine, discovers a photograph of a young smiling woman while on a tour of duty in Iraq. After a series of fortunate events, he comes to view the photograph as a lucky charm, and carries it with him always. Once back in the United States, his obsession with the mysterious woman grows, and he eventually tracks her down. She's a single mother in North Carolina, and Logan finds himself unexpectedly caught up in a passionate romance with his "lucky one." Bestselling author Nicholas Sparks (A WALK TO REMEMBER, MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE) once again blends romance, destiny, danger, and a hint of tragedy to create a wonderfully moving tale of remarkable love.
Author Bio
Nicholas Sparks
Nicholas Sparks was born on New Year's Eve, 1965, in Omaha, Nebraska. The son of a scholar, his early years were largely nomadic until his father settled into a Ph.D. program at the University of Southern California. Like his father, Sparks excelled intellectually throughout high school and college at the University of Notre Dame. His first love, however, was running. When a severe tendon injury forced him off the track during his first year of college, Sparks, at his mother's request, delved into writing. His first book, THE PASSING, was never published and still sits in his family's attic. Several years passed, during which time Sparks married and had two sons. After surviving uninspiring careers as a real estate appraiser, waiter, telemarketer, and entrepreneur, Sparks wrote his first published work, THE NOTEBOOK. This inspirational love story based on the life of his grandparents was an instant best-seller in 1996. Since then, he has written two other books--MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE (1998) and A WALK TO REMEMBER (1999)--both of which have achieved best-seller status. MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE was adapted for film in 1999 and starred Kevin Costner, Paul Newman, and Robin Wright Penn.

Praise

"Readers are sure to relish this grand, destined love story enhanced with endearing kids, dogs and grandmothers; a cozy country atmosphere; and glimpses of a wise ghost. The ominous foreshadowing of disaster adds suspense, as do the problems complicating the relationship. Romance fans will consider themselves more than fortunate to have discovered THE LUCKY ONE." - Terry Miller Shannon 09/11/2009
