Product Overview

Hawkeye, an outsized Maine Coon cat with extra toes, found life rather dull and ordinary at the MerryMaines Cattery until he fished a small, uppity and very royal Siamese Korat from a raging Penobscot River in Northern Maine. For her part, rescued or not, Princess Bhu Fan found the denizens in these rustic backwoods almost too bucolic to take seriously. Purebred? No way. Tarted-up barn cats, oh yes. But when do you play a crooked wheel? When it's the only game in town. And as Bhu Fan soon remarks: "Even in orient, we know what 'Old Shell Game' is." While her paws may never have touched anything but velvet, Bhu Fan quickly teams up with Hawkeye to prevent a vicious pair of so-called animal brokers, who had tried and failed to coerce Beth Merriman into selling them the cattery, from burning the place down. In the melee, however, the would-be buyers manage to abduct MerryMaines most famous sire, Beowulf, and quickly disappear with him. When a gang of automobile thieves uses a nearby abandoned barn to hide a stolen semi-load of Corvettes, Bhu Fan, Hawkeye, his sire, Shere Khan and all the inhabitants at MerryMaines use a bit of ghostly psychology to put them to flight. Losing Wulf is bad enough; they're not about to let this gaggle threaten their beloved Bethmom a second time. Even though Bhu Fan and the clan matriarch have a near fatal encounter with a Great Horned Owl in the doing. Beth Merriman is devastated at the kidnapping of her grand champion and all her cats feel the loss keenly as well. Even though they have dispatched the car thieves successfully without giving themselves away, they are at a loss as how to get Wulf back home when they don't know where he is. How can they find him? And is that skinny little short-haired haughty Korat some sort of seer who can figure it all out?
