In case you didn't read the first memorial epic Lorraine and I wrote about the Pigman, don't worry about it. I never used to like reading either because a lot of my teachers made me read stuff I didn't need. (from the first line)
John and Lorraine are still haunted by the memory of the Pigman when they come face to face with a graybeard in the Pigmans abandoned house and, perhaps, a chance to prove themselves and take a big step towards maturity. From the Publisher:

The Pigman's return ...

Four months after the Pigman died, John and Lorraine are passing by their old friend's empty house when they receive the shock of their lives: An elderly man has taken up residence in the abandoned home. Convinced this down-and-out recluse is a sign from beyond the grave, John and Lorraine decide they've been given a chance to make up for what happened to the Pigman -- a chance to make things right, once and for all.

Teenagers John and Lorriane are still feeling guilty for the part they played in the death of their elderly friend, Mr. Pignati. They forge a friendship with another elderly man, Gus, hoping that they can somehow make up for the pain they brought into Mr. Pignati's life. Their story is told in alternating chapters by John and Lorraine.
Author Bio
Paul Zindel
Zindel's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, THE EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS ON MAN-IN-THE-MOON MARIGOLDS, brought him to the attention of Charlotte Zolotow, an editor who encouraged him to write young adult novels. His first work for young adults, THE PIGMAN, appeared in 1968. Zindel is often credited with changing the face of young adult literature, creating more realistic works that reflect such themes as loneliness, eccentricity, and sexuality.
