In one week, this has become my favorite cookbook.
I've only had this cookbook for a little over a week and it has become my new best friend. My husband has been a STRICT "South Beacher" for a couple of months and I've been following it loosely because I like the basic premise of whole grains, low fat, etc. The only drawback I found with the recipes in the original diet book (which were still great, by the way) was that I felt I was doing a little too much cooking for my busy schedule. This book solves that problem beautifully! First, all the ingredients are things that I can find readily in my supermarkets or Whole Foods. All the ingredients are NORMAL foods that NORMAL people eat, nothing artificial except for the sweeteners. And for one who tends to avoid packaged convenience foods but has no time, this cookbook is a godsend. They even have a recipe for barbeque sauce! Everything you make is from scratch, but tastes like restaurant food! Also, the pages have a color-coded strip indicating into which phase of the diet each recipe fits. So far, we have LOVED the spinach & goat cheese stuffed chicken breast, lamb chops with chimichurri sauce (yum!), green tea truffles and the mini cocoa swirl cheese cakes. We were eating all of these foods saying we couldn't believe this stuff was diet food! Finally, a cookbook that really does what it claims - puts very delicious, healthy food on your table fast. I would buy this cookbook even if I had no interest in the diet itself, just because the recipes are so great, so varied, and so easy. I'll be buying several copies for Christmas gifts. Enjoy!
