Author Bio
Katharine Kerr
Katharine Kerr was born into a well-to-do Cleveland family, that she says, "considers itself to be British-in-exile far more than American." While she was still in school, her family moved to Santa Barbara, where she stayed until she was 18, when she moved to San Francisco, where she has lived ever since. She attended Stanford, before dropping out to independently read everything from archeology and medieval history to modern literature. Running into an old high-school friend, they rekindled their friendship and eventually married in 1973. The turning event in her life was when a friend gave her a role-playing game, which so inspired her that she became a writer for gaming magazines, eventually actually creating the games themselves. Kerr's first novel was 1986s DAGGERSPELL, the first book in the Deverry series. Since then, she has written mostly fantasy novels, with a few science fiction ones for good measure. She has also delved into the world of the Internet with her own website, full of samples from books she is working on, nonfiction diatribes on a variety of topics, and even a discussion of the rather complex timeline in the Deverry series.
