Wanted to like it
I bought two different brands of NAS units, hoping to get best of breed in what I wanted them used for, a synology 212j and this Thecus n2200plus. The Thecus was for purely doing backups and having remote access to those files, while the synology was for media and entertainment. Having used it for months now, I'm 100% using the Synology. All around it's much better. The Thecus has (1) lost it's raid drive making me reinstall and reload all the data (2) upgrades are few and far between (3) features are clunky to configure (4) Integration with Mac OSX is poor (5) the software just feels like a homemade product. In fact, I'm hoping there is some way to load my own OS on it and just blow away their software.
