Author Bio
Annie Besant
Annie Besant, a follower and confidante of the occult writer Helena P. Blavatsky, assumed control of the Theosophical Society in 1907, and founded the College of Theosophy in Benares. Besant is credited with "discovering" Krishnamurti, calling him the reincarnation of Christ, and establishing the Order of the Star to promote his teachings. (Krishnamurti later broke away from Besant.) Besant was a writer of many texts on Eastern wisdom, especially that of India.
