Author Bio
Susan Meddaugh
Author and illustrator Susan Meddaugh is best known for her picture books about Martha--a feisty dog who develops the ability to speak after eating a can of alphabet soup. After graduating from Wheaton College, Meddaugh moved to Boston where she became a designer of children's books at Houghton Mifflin. As she helped bring the works of other authors and illustrators to life, Meddaugh was inspired to create her own books for children. Her first book, TOO SHORT FRED, was published in 1978. Meddaugh's most famous character, Martha, was inspired by her own pet dog.
