It wasn't the first snow of the season. Panama, Vermont, lay far enough to the north to have already seen several snow-dusted dawns. But this wasn't dawn, and these flakes didn't dust. From early afternoon right on into evening, they fell heavy and fat and wet. (from the first line)
From the Publisher:
When a blizzard hits Vermont, blanketing the sleepy town and creating a scene so tranquil, no one suspects the tragedy to come, in ?a heart-tugging story of love and redemption that is surprisingly powerful? (People). What if wishes really could come true? It's the question facing waitress Bree Walker when she awakens in the hospital following a blizzard in sleepy Panama, Vermont. While she can't recall the near-tragedy that landed her there, she's overcome with the certainty that she has been granted three wishes. One seems to have come true already: at her side is renowned author Tom Gates, the accident's only witness, who came to Panama to make sense of his fame?and who now makes Bree his cause.

Suddenly, the things Bree has wanted most?a home, a soul mate, a family?are within her grasp. But are the wishes real? And if they are, what is their price? As Bree and Tom consider what their hearts truly require, they discover that to live their dreams, they will have to take unimagined risks?.

Author Bio
Barbara Delinsky
A native of Newton, Massachusetts, Barbara Delinsky attended Tufts University, where she met her husband, Stephen Delinsky, a lawyer who once served as chief of staff for the attorney general. After earning a master's degree in sociology at Boston University, she began working at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. She also worked as a reporter and photographer before taking time off to give birth to her son, Eric, the first of her three children. Working closely with the breast cancer advisory committee at Massachusetts General Hospital, Delinsky became committed to its goal of raising awareness of the disease, which took her mother's life at the age of 45 when she was only 8 years old.

Delinsky began her writing career at the age of 35 after reading a newspaper article on female genre writers. Feeling she could successfully join their ranks, Delinsky wrote her first romance, "Hills of Eden", in only three and a half weeks. She continued this torrid pace for the next 18 years, during which she penned 66 novels, many of them bestsellers. She began with a formulaic approach, constructing 10 chapters of 20 pages each, though she has since gone on to expand this structure. Her other interests include hiking, crossword puzzles, reading and, when possible, vacationing with her husband.
