The First 33 Adventures from the Legendary TV Series.
In a distant galaxy, the world of Thundera is in crisis. The planet's structure has become unstable and is near collapse. With their destruction imminent, Thundera's denizens--known as the Thundercats--escape in a spaceship and plot a course for a new home. While in transit, the Thundercats are attacked by evil mutants and their craft is irreparably damaged. Jaga, the eldest Thundercat, sacrifices himself in order to pilot the ship safely to its destination: Third Earth. Contains the first 33 episodes of the series.
Editor's Note
At the outset of this popular 1980s cartoon series, a planet (known as Thundera) in a far, far away universe is in trouble. The planet and its inhabitants are facing extinction due to the planet's structural instability and looming disintegration. While the planet's offspring (the Thundercats) are able to escape in one piece, their spacecraft is not so lucky. When their vehicle of transportation is ruined by evil mutants, it is up to Jaga, the group's eldest member, to risk his own life to ensure the safe arrival of the Thundercats to their new home-Third Earth. This release contains the first volume of episodes from the first season of the show.

Although intended for children, many of the themes could be pitched to adults. Indeed, some of the jokes shared between the characters would be over the heads of the kiddies. It's nice to see that moral issues are there, like the used to be in cartoons back then.

Thundercats! Are! Go! No, wait: that was Thunderbirds. Still, Thundercats are indeed go, in their first DVD collection, which is sure to draw as much cash from the pockets of retro-hungry Generation Xers as the cartoon originally drew from the pockets of our parents, to buy all those damn Thunderbird toys that were the inspiration for this series. It almost demands to be viewed while eating a bowl of sugary breakfast cereal, the official Xer snack. - Maryann Johanson
