A rash of horrifying crimes tears through New York City, throwing it into complete chaos and terrorizing everyone living there. Immediately, it becomes clear that these offenses are not the work of an amateur, but of a calculating, efficient, and deadly mastermind. All too soon, another appalling murder leads Detective Michael Bennett to a shocking discovery that exposes the killer''s pattern and the earth-shattering enormity of his plan.
James Patterson and company add another on-the-edge-of-your-seats novel to the popular series which follows the life and investigations of New York Detective Michael Bennett. Bennett is enjoying a rare moment of peace and quiet on the beach with his family when he receives a call informing him that a bomb has detonated in the city. Fear is mounting, as officials worry that the terrorist has bigger plans in mind. Thrown headlong into this life-or-death investigation, Bennett must also juggle amplifying feelings toward the FBI agent on the case, Beth Peters, with his complex relationship with his kids' nanny.
Author Bio
James Patterson
James Patterson grew up in Newburgh, New York, 50 miles north of New York City. Valedictorian of his class at the Christian Brothers school, St. Patrick's, in 1965, Patterson graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in English. He first entertained the idea of becoming a writer in 1971 when he worked as a college student in a mental institution, a job that afforded him abundant time to read. He came up with the idea for his first novel during that time, and five years later, after 26 rejection slips, his first effort, "The Thomas Berryman Number", appeared in bookstores. Since that time, Patterson has written numerous best-selling thrillers featuring the sensitive, modern-day hero Alex Cross, including "Kiss the Girls", which was made into a major motion picture starring Morgan Freeman.
