Save yourself a headache
I have had several GPS units over the years, then I decided to buy a tomtom. Now the nightmare begins. First let me say, it does have some good points, the 5" screen is nice, the voice is better than some(louder). After you get use to the mounting bracket, it is nice that its compact. I found it easy to use. Now for the rest of the story, tomtom has the highest error rate of any unit. As I traveled, I found about 1.5 errors per mile,(streets that do not exist, wrong names etc) A good many places it was off, sometime by over a mile. I did the latest map updates but all the problems stayed the same. After many contacts with tomtom, they say its not their fault, but the map supplier??? If you really need to get where you are going, look at another brand. Tomtom says they have a million more miles than other brands, they do this by showing some driveways, power lines and fake roads. The speed limit function doesn't work on many major roads. I have encountered streets that the unit has no address for, meaning you will have to look for mail boxes to find it, sometimes that is miles of looking. It was not just me with issues, several friends had bought tomtom, and said it could not get them to the destination at many places either. They also did what I did, bought another brand.
