Plug and Play on Linux and Windows2/20/2012
All I can say is WOW! This external hard drive not only is recognized in both Linux and Windows OS's immediately, but it can handle data like a champ. It tok it only 30 minutes to move 30 GB of data onto it from my machine, and I noticed no overheating problems with it. It has a single citvity light and no other bells or whistles, but that's perfect for me. it slips right inside my laptop case and is quite amazing overall.
Worked as soon as I plugged it in,,, ( Win XP Pro) EZ drag and drop and amazing capacity. This will increase my laptop performance and storage.
I absolutely loved this product from the moment I opened the little box and layed eyes on it. Its sleek looking and a great bang for your buck. If you are looking for a external storage device and are unsure about the simplicity or storage capabilities, this device is as simple as it gets. Just plug it in and get started. The storage capability is phenomenal. I have to admit I was unsure if I should even get a 1tb external hard drive or if I should go with something smaller. For the extra couple dollars, I am glad I made the choice to go with the 1tb. The weight of the device is fairly light. This will allow you to be able to take it just about any where. This is great for college students, like myself, who take thier work every where. This product is also great if you just want to free up some extra space on your personal computer or laptop. With usb 2.0, moveing files does not get any easier. I have noticed with the buffer rate of 8mb and the 5400 rpm that it does take a little time to move files to and from the device. This could have been because it was a big file that I moved to it. It was a 46 gig file and it took roughly 6 hours. I dont think that is bad at all. The time wait is not that big of a deal though. I am sure you will be just as pleased with this device as I am.
