|Discover one of the easiest ways to add storage to your computer with Toshiba's Canvio® Basics 3.0 portable hard drive, offering one of the simplest storage solutions right out of the box.|
For those who want easy, effective drag-and-drop storage to manage their growing digital library, the Canvio® Basics 3.0 is a great solution. Offering up to 1 terabyte of capacity, and powered by USB 3.0 technology, it lets you copy even some of the largest files off your PC and onto the drive faster than ever before. Thanks to a special internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology to guard against accidents and drops for greater peace of mind, it's also the perfect way to share or transport your digital content.
The 750GB Canvio is capable of storing up to 214,000 digital photos or 197,000 digital music files or 610 downloaded digital movies.
The external hard drive is very compact and easy to carry. I ordered this product primarily for the portability and the 3.0 usb. The data transfer speeds are amazing compared to the 2.0 usb hard drive I have. I plugged in this product into three different computers (all of them Windows 7). Two of them recognized the drive without any issue. One computer installed the driver but did not map a drive to this device. I could not figure out why.
The thing I love about the Toshiba Canvios is that they just work. No hassle, no fuss, just tons of storage. I have the Toshiba Canvio 750GB USB 2.0 and recently bought the USB 3.0 version. I was surprised that the USB 3.0 version is even smaller, by a few mm, than the USB 2.0 version. The USB 2.0 version is used to back up my Macbook (I use Time Machine and SuperDuper) and the USB 3.0 version is for backing up critical files on my PC. Unlike some other reviewers, I have had no problems at all with the USB 3.0 connector. It fits snugly and doesn't seem in any danger of coming loose. Anyone needing tons of backup in a small package should consider one of the Toshiba Canvio drives.
