I was a little worried about whether or not this SSD would work in my ancient Compaq V2401CL laptop circa 2001. That laptop has only been used as a backup for many years and basically has been collecting dust. When I replaced my HD on my MacBook with an SSD I thought what about this paper weight, can I revive this as well? The install was simple, the only modification that I made to the drive was moving the jumper to "MASTER" so my laptop would recognize it. The drive has the chart on the drive itself to show where the jumper belongs. I connected it, booted in my Linux Mint 15 DVD and made a fresh install which only took around 10 minutes to complete because of the speed of the drive. Now, my 12 year old laptop has a 2013 operating system with an SSD that boots to the desktop in 20 seconds. It's not a new MacBook Air or Ultrabook but this upgrade has revived it into a functional piece of equipment again.
