Customer Reviews of TRENDnet TPL-401E2K 500Mbps Powerline AV Adapter Kit
The unit could not get a faster connection than 96mbps. Not even close to 500Mbps. I didn't expect 500Mbps. Not even 300Mbps. But this speed is too slow. I had hoped it would be better than my 80211/n WiFi but it was not to be. The units are installed in a 15 yr old house each directly into an outlet. No extension cords or strips. Nothing else is plugged into the outlets. I have used Ethernet over power line devices before. Usually with poor results. Not just this in house but in other houses also. I think poor performance is just the nature of the beast. I would not buy this if I had it to do over again.
I have 4 of these (network printer, workstation, TV). I bought this when it was on sale at $99 for the pair. Works right out of the box. Have been using it to stream video to my Samsung 3D HDTV with Hulu Plus and Netflix. Also, upgraded my Comcast cable internet to 20 Mbps with my DOCSIS 3.0 modem and have been enjoying HD since. I highly recommend it.
