Low Cost Proven IP Cam and Software
This camera is the same model that I have had for 4years under the Hawkings label. Only upgraded to G. Easy to set up and use and the software is the same. I purchased only out of knowledge of the product and supporting software. Also the 4 year old hawkings model is still working even after falling to the floor multiple times each time opening up the guts and it still works well put together with string and Gorilla Glue. The lens module just plugs back into the available slot on the IP and Transmission board. Using a cheap Hawkings DB enhancer antenna you can place these cameras over 100 ft from the wireless router. The range is much better using an upgraded router (range max) and the frame rate on the TrendNet camera (G)is 4 X faster than my present camera (b). The price is right and the quality better than expected. The ability to have the same standard with and adding additional cameras made this unit a great find for my purposes. This camera can also accomodate more signed in lookers than any other avalible camera at this price. Use the free DNY/DNS services for the camera URL address for internet access. Excellent choice for an on the cheap security cameras for a vacation home. Indoors use only, but with a tripod, you can manage a clear look at the outside weather conditions. It is a no brainer for a full IP addressable camera at a terrific price point. Hint, remember when upgrading or changing settings this camera must be hard connected to the network with the available CAT 5 connection. (This instruction is NOT clear in the installation manual) Then placed the unit at it's location for wireless operation. Hint: I use a mecanical timer for the outdoor pointed camera that is far from my router shutting down every night for an hour or more. Why? the camera sometimes looses contact with the router, this primitive method,of a reboot, does the trick for reconection especially when the location is an empty vacation home hundreds of miles miles away.
