Perfect replacement batteries12/7/2010
Bought two of these batteries for my Tripp Lite UPS. They arrived within a couple of days of ordering. Can't beat the service from Buy.com. Now my battery backup is working again. FYI, I was able to recycle the old batteries by dropping them off at Batteries Plus.
Worth the time and money3/3/2008
Have a 5 year old Tripp Lite UBS for my main computer. It has worked flawlessly every tome we had a blackout, but the batteries in it were getting old. Was contemplating replacing it when i found out that I could replace the batteries for a fraction of what it would have cost me to replace the entire unit. While Buy.com's price was not a low as some of the other outlets which offered the batteries, their price was still very good. (Gave this a 5 not only for this, but the fact that it would have cost me a whole lot more to replace the unit itself, due to the load requirements of my computer system.) Even with the free shipping, the two batteries (my unit requires two replacement batteries) arrived within several days after the order was placed. While they look slightly different from the original batteries in terms of the case color and labeling, they are true OEM replacements. this would make sense, as I am sure that things like this could change over the 5 years since I first got the unit. The final test was that when I reconnected the system, and checked the battery management software app, it confirmed the batteries as being the proper batteries for this unit. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. After disconnecting the unit from the computer and powering down (even then the unit worked, thinking that there was a power outage), simply unscrew the retaining screw which held the cover to the battery compartment, then slowly slide out the two batteries. (They stuck at first as the connecting wires are not that long.) Once they cleared the casing, I disconnected them and was then able to completely remove the batteries. It was then a simple matter to configure the new batteries into the same position as the old (as per the instructions), move the Jumper wire to the new batteries, then place them back into the compartment, reconnect the wires coming from the unit, fully slide the batteries into the compartment then close it up. Only problem I encountered (which is why I only gave "ease of use" a 4), was with working with the connecting cables coming out of the unit, as there is not much room, and that you have to remove them prior to completely removing the old batteries, and reconnect just before sliding the new batteries in. Would strongly recommend that the batteries be configured exactly the same as the old, and not try to place the side to which the the case connectors are located in first, as you will risk causing a short, or worse. Also, as these are lead-acid batteries, you cannot simply dispose of them in the trash. They need to be properly disposed of at a recycle center which is equipped to handle them. We're lucky that here in Montgomery County, MD the local dump has a hazardous materials drop-off center. I'm sure there is one available in most other locations. Again because of this I gave "ease of use" a 4. Otherwise this was a easy process. The bottom line it that it was worth the effort, especially if you are not afraid to do these types of tasks.
I bought 6 batteries2/11/2008
The order was fast and accurate. The batteries are not generic. They've been in service for 2 weeks and seem to function well. I'm very pleased with the order and I will use buy.com again when I need good batteries at a great price (with shipping included)!
