David Wiesner
David Wiesner grew up loving to draw in Bridgewater, New Jersey, and went on to receive a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1983. Though he was initially not interested in illustrating for children, Wiesner's early foray into creating cover art for a popular kid's magazine, Cricket, put him an extremely successful path that garnered the artist several awards. A three-time Caldecott Medal recipient, Wiesner is best known for his gorgeously detailed, wordless (or sparsely worded) picture books. In 2007, he won the Caldecott for FLOTSAM.

From the Publisher
Annotation This nearly wordless picture book tells of the adventures of a group of frogs who mysteriously fly on their magic carpet-like lily pads through a town where all the inhabitants are asleep. As dawn breaks they head back to the swamp leaving the town littered with damp lily pads. Illustrated with watercolor paintings. Winner of the 1992 Caldecott Medal.
Editors Note As the unpredictable events of a particular Tuesday unroll before the reader with the precision and clarity of a silent movie, every detail contributes to a perfectly convincing vision of a scenario so outlandish it might just be true. Full-color illustrations. Caldecott Medal Book.
Editors Note 2 The unpredictable events of a particular Tuesday unroll before the reader with the precision and clarity of a silent movie. A Caldecott Medal book.
Annotation 3 It's around 8:00 on a Tuesday evening when something odd happens down at the pond. To the amazement of a sleepy turtle and a small school of fish, a group of frogs suddenly floats into view--not in the pond, but in the sky, on magic carpet-like lily pads. Now hundreds of frogs are flying through the night, surprising birds, confusing a sleepy man, getting tangled up in some laundry hanging on a clothesline, floating into the house of a snoozing woman, and having a scary encounter with a dog. As dawn breaks, they head back to the swamp leaving the town littered with damp lily pads. The frogs' adventure might be over, but as the last illustrations reveal, it seems that next Tuesday, pigs will fly. Consisting of a mere 12 words, TUESDAY is illustrated with watercolor paintings and is the winner of the 1992 Caldecott Medal.
First Line Tuesday evening, around eight.
