The castle. Although it was only seven feet tall, it appeared oddly majestic with the sun rising in the east behind it. (from the first line)
Now in paperback--the latest novel by the Newbery Honoree. Wedge wants his old life back. Instead, he's faced with the unpleasant and unwanted task of getting to know--and accepting--his new step-family.
From the Publisher:
When his mother's new marriage takes them into the household of a miniature golf course owner, ten-year-old Wedge struggles with feelings of resentment and dislike for his stepfather. Reprint.
Annotation:
Ten-year-old Wedge is unhappy that his mother has remarried--especially since her new husband runs a miniature golf course decorated with miniature castles, goes by the nickname "King," and wears a fake crown wherever he goes. To further complicate matters, Wedge is overweight, while his stepfather and stepbrother are tall and skinny. Will Wedge be able to find a way to accept his new stepfamily?
