Annotation:
The trials and tribulations of Emma Harte's descendants continue in this fifth volume of the Harte family saga, which began with the blockbuster A WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE. American Evan Hughes has learned that her father is an illegitimate descendant of Emma Harte, the legendary family matriarch and founder of the English department store where Evan currently works. Should she share this revelation with her estranged father? And what of her romance with Gideon, another Harte great-grandchild? Meanwhile, Emma's great-granddaughter Tessa is engaged in a bitter custody battle for her daughter Adele when Tessa's soon-to-be ex kidnaps the little girl. And Harte descendant India Standish defies her family when she decides to marry a man of whom they do not approve.
