SBH-100 precision-cut ball head moves swiftly and steadily so you won't miss the action. Constructed of solid, strong magnesium alloy, it\'s durable and yet lighter in weight than the industry standard. Unlike other ball heads, SBH ball heads are designed with molded body parts, not assembled cut parts, like the competition. Its smooth locking knobs allow you to move the ball head swiftly and securely into the perfect position, even with the heaviest lenses and cameras. It includes two bubble levels, 360-degree scale, fine-tuning knob and a safety lock for extra stability. A special universal VANGUARD quick shoe for body/lens is also included so you can upgrade your system to quick-release immediately.

Vanguard ballhead 1 yr later7/14/2009
OK, so it's been alittle over a year and I've used my Vanguard SBH100 regularly and without reservation (even hit by a wave with new Canon 5D Mark II attached to it). So far everything is working great. The only complaint I have is that after being fully locked, when I loosen it to change positions, there is alittle bit of stickiness. Not that it's a horrible amount, just noticeable. I'm not sure if a bigger name brand ballhead would have such an issue. Other than that, it's been great. Solid as far as I'm concerned.

Excellent ballhead for the price5/29/2008
After a lot of time spent researching ballheads from various manufacturers, I decided on the Vanguard SBH100 and so far, I'm totally satified with the head. The knobs are nicely knurled for easy grip and locks solid. Two leveling bubbles are very handy when shooting on uneven surfaces. I mounted in on a Manfrotto 055XProB tripod and the head base hangs over the base of the tripod less than 1/8" which I can live with. The combination is solid and at $30, it can't be beat. The safety lock and quick release mechanism works very well, even with my 4.4LB digital camera. If you're in the market for a ballhead, I would definitely consider this one. You will be pleased with the results.
