Author Bio
Douglas Florian
Educated at Queens College of the City University of New York and the School of Visual Arts, author/illustrator Douglas Florian began his career as a political cartoonist. Although he considers himself more of an artist than a writer, Florian is well-known for his children's books--many of which feature his original, humorous poetry. His first book for children, A BIRD CAN FLY, was published in 1980 and his 1994 effort, BEAST FEAST, won the Lee Bennett Hopkins Award for Poetry.
