Great for kitchen viewing12/25/2010
The 16 inch Viewsonic is ideal for a wall mount in a kitchen when the viewer is within 8 feet. Tone control works well for adjusting tone for pleasant listening. Manual descriptions are poor, but good tech service.
Good Value for Small TV11/13/2010
I was looking specifically for a small TV to go in the master bath for catching the morning news. This fits the bill just perfect. Small enough to fit in a tight place, loud enough for a small room, and enough picture quality to go in any room. I would highly recommend it.
good product for a good price2/17/2009
Nice picture, sound is "tin-ee" but you should expect that from such a small set. I bought this for an under cabinet mount in the kitchen to watch while cooking & quick eating. It looks great in the small area where I put it. You give up sound and image with this smaller set (vs. a 19"-21") but for the $190 cost and quick, free delivery, it has been worth it. No problems to report at this point. Good product & value but you must understand what you are getting. Size does matter but I needed to go smaller for the limited space I had.
Easy to get up and running. Audio a little tinny and picture is dark and distorted if viewed from too oblique an angle; but, perfect for a kitchen countertop TV and much better than the clunky 15 inch TV it replaced.
Does the job!1/31/2009
T.V. being used in the kitchen to replace an old tube t.v. We mounted it to the wall. Great value for the money, and takes up much less space. We need to improve on antenna we are using, as not all stations come in clearly. Overall we are satisfied with the product for a kitchen t.v. Set up was easy and directions were clear. We are all ready for the conversion!
ViewSonic has been making reliable monitors for years. I needed a TV to deal with the digital switch-over and I did not want to bother with a converter box. I have limited space in my kitchen and could not afford the expense of an additional DSL installation for another TV. I am getting great reception with a small Terk indoor antenna. Picture is clear and vivid with fine contrast. My only quarrel is the sound quality. Although higher treble levels are good to be heard over the kitchen cacophony the sound at flat level (bass and treble in middle range settings) the tininess of the sound had me increasing the bass levels. I have had other smaller TVs where the sound is better and not tinny, such as my previous GE. Overall, a good value.
Adequate for its purpose1/3/2009
It's a nice little TV but not without a couple of shortcomings. We have three Sharp LCD TV's. All of them have a viewing angle that doesn't make you think twice when looking at it sideways. The Viewsonic is more like your LCD PC monitor (maybe no surprise?) As soon as you're not looking directly at it, the color and contrast noticeably shift (stand up and look down at your LCD monitor to experience it). If you mostly look straight at it it's no issue. I also couldn't get it to successfully maintain aspect ratios. Either the 4:3 was stretched or the 16:9 was squeezed down to 4:3. I think I tried all of the settings but never found one that worked for both. Having to go into Settings every time you change channels ain't gonna work well for Gramma. I might not have exhausted all of the options but my first shot was not successful. This isn't an issue with any of the Sharps. Setup when hooked up to cable was simple and flawless (ignoring the aspect ratio issue). Sound was adequate for bedroom (including while on treadmill) use. A little tinny but what small TV isn't? Again, for under $200, it meets the need.
Very good LCD, can't get one for less12/28/2008
I bought this TV for a Christmas gift and mounted it to the wall in the kitchen. The sound is definitely adequate for the kitchen and the picture is quality is good. With fine tuning of the options, it's definitely adequate. Easy to use and set up.
Narrow Viewing Angle12/6/2008
Like one of your other reviewers, I agree that the viewing angle is very small. My wife wanted me to send it back, but I convinced her to keep it in her small office, where she only sits in one place, making the viewing angle less of an issue. The sound is also of poor quality.
Good for our kitchen10/13/2008
This TV worked well and picked up many new digital channels. The viewing angle is good. We probably should have gotten a slightly bigger one, but this one operates as expected. The speakers are a little tinny, but what can one expect in a small box. It is our first digital TV, so sometimes I carry it around to other rooms if there is something I want to watch (digital) in a different room.
ViewSonic is Great9/25/2008
This product has exceeded my expectations. The picture is great, and it has the ability to be connected to my laptop, plus other features. I was a little skeptical at how its compact size would translate in to performance, but it performs great, and takes up less space .
GREAT LITTLE TV8/28/2008
We recently bought this TV for our 3-year-old daughter and she loves it. You cannot beat this kind of quality for the price. I am not sure what the other review is talking about since do not have any of those problems.
Nice picture - when you can see it6/17/2008
I wanted a small digital tv for my kitchen counter to watch while preparing meals so I thought this one would fit the bill, wrong. The problem is this tv has such a narrow viewing angle that it is nearly impossible to see the picture unless your eyes are directly in front of it and centered in the middle. A few inches higher and the picture turns totally white, a couple inches lower and it's totaly dark. It says the viewing angle is 160 but it seems more like 100 to me, if that. Unless you will use this tv at eye level at all times I can not recommend buying it. Unfortunatly I found this out too late. The sound from its tiny speakers is pretty terrible too.
We have several HD LCD TVs in the house (including Sony and Olivea) and this little beauty by Viewsonic seems to have the most advanced tuner of the bunch. When set to auto-search for channels, it picked up over 400 cable feeds (including music channels, etc.) without a cable box. And the picture is simply amazing. Good things come in small packages in this case. Great value!
Great Picture, Disappointing Sound5/30/2008
This is our first small flat panel TV and for the most part we are quite happy with it. The picture quality is very good for a moderately priced unit, it's easy to use, has good computer compatibility, but the sound quality is very disappointing. In fact the sound takes away from the other high quality features.
