6 mo later, this monitor is junk12/31/2013
kids have been using this monitor for 6 months and this model, at least the unit we have, is pretty bad. There is constant vertical banding. The rest is OK but it drives me crazy.
Serves my purpose, explicitly6/20/2013
I purchased the Viewsonic VA2248m-LED 22" monitor as a second computer monitor. It is about the same physical size as my main monitor, including the stand. It almost seems that the picture is more vivid than my primary monitor. I agree with some reviewers that the controls being at the back edge instead of on the front is a bit inconvenient, but for me it is not a major issue. It has both, a DVI-D and a VGA interface on the back. This works good for me because my graphics card has DVI-D and DVI-I connectors. Unfortunately, this monitor comes with a standard length VGA cable, but no DVI cable. Due to where I locate this monitor, I had to purchase a 15 foot DVI cable anyway, so again, this was not a concern. Make sure you use a cable with DVI-D male connectors unless you connect via VGA. A DVI-D male will fit a DVI-I female, but a DVI-I male will not fit a DVI-D female. I am more than satisfied with this purchase.
This is an amazing Color Monitor. The resolution is quiet surprisingly clear, I really didn't expect it to be this good. The prices have come down so this Monitor was in the range I was looking to purchase. Definately a FIVE STAR Monitor so I highly recommend this to all my friends to buy.
Dead Pixel, Dingbat Design4/6/2012
What moron designed this unit? The mounting post between the monitor and the base is firmly attached to the monitor and sticks out down below the screen as it hangs on my dual LCD mount. Additionally, ViewSonic put the on/off button and other OSD buttons BEHIND the monitor on the RIGHT. With a dual monitor mount, that means I have to leave a gap between them, just so I can turn the monitors off. Totally moronic. Other than that, the monitors are nice... except for the DEAD PIXEL staring at me as soon as I turned the unit on for the first time. Also, ViewSonic did not include DVI cables or 15-pin VGA to DVI adapters. *sigh* Anyway, I'm going to keep them, as soon as I get a replacement for the dead pixel unit. But if you're shopping around, perhaps a slightly more expensive Asus or Samsung model might offer a better dual monitor experience?
