Amazing Machine in a Tiny Package9/11/2009
This miniature computer can do almost anything and it fits in my pocket. As an Internet/entertainment center, it's almost perfect. As an office/productivity tool, it really needs a physical keyboard. Although navigating through Windows on such a small screen can be tricky, the convenience of the small size -- and the excellent battery performance -- balance out the quirks nicely.
I carry it everywere9/10/2009
I carry the Viliv S5 everywhere I go. I have been using the S5 for about 4 months and I must say I have become addicted to it. I first thought the screen was going to be too small for use. However after realizing that this little device gave me all the functionality that my pc laptop provided it soon became a must in my backpack. Small enough to stuff in the front pocket, powerful enough to power my 42 inch LCD in the living room (with optional cable), and enough memory to hold all my music plus a few DVDs. It is great for a person who likes to ride motorcycles, travel, and loves to take their entire media library with them. GPS enabled, full music library, a few movies, and all the surfing power you could need in the pc market. I think it is a must have for the café/coffee house surfer!
Pocketable Windows XP Computer9/9/2009
I have a Viliv S5 and love it. The battery runs for several hours on a single charge and it wakes up from sleep in about 3 seconds. It's small enough to fit in a large pocket- like in a coat or most cargo pants. One of the best things about the Viliv is that I can install whatever I want on it, including applications that I use on my desktop computer. Make sure to get the leather case, it's actually pretty nice and it's saved my Viliv on a couple of occasions. I have Office 2007 on mine and it runs just fine. I don't use it to enter a lot of data, but it's fine for reviewing and editing documents.
The Viliv S5 is my "must take with me" d9/9/2009
I travel a lot for work and I was getting tired of lugging around my laptop with me everywhere. I was introduced to the Viliv S5 and I think it is one of the best purchases I've ever made! I love that I can store a bunch of movies on there, sync up my pictures from my camera (not to mention being able to upload them to Facebook or Picasa), have access to my entire iTunes library, sync up my work documents (Spreadsheets, Power Point and e-mail) AND on top of all that, I can use it as a GPS device and find local restaurants and get directions! (I purchased Street Deck - it was definitely worth the investment). The Viliv S5 has pretty good battery life, too. So basically when I travel, I leave my iPod and my laptop behind. Plus, when I'm staying within the US, I save the company money by not renting out a GPS device from Hertz! When I bought the device I was torn between the WiFi version and the 3G version. I think it's just personal preference. I have a MiFi card so that I can use it as a personal hotspot with my Viliv or my laptop anytime. Some people prefer to just get a 3G connection so they don't have to carry around something extra.
