Have no idea if it's ATI in general but I bought it because like others no PCI Express slot and was thinking I might use it for a little while in a new PC which don't have AGP slots.I needed it to play a game that required an upgrade over Gforce 5200.Can play the new game with occasional crashes but older games Battlefield Series games crash over and over again.Sims 2 crashes all the time and Flight Sim 9 frame rate is so bad I uninstalled it.GForce 5200 never crashed and had good frame rates.I would have returned it but couldn't play Silent Hunter 4 without this very bad card.Tried everything from new drivers to upgrades to Direct x,net 3.0.ATI and Vision Tek have'nt been any help.
Solid choice for PCI bus, don't expect high frame-3/4/2008
I have had this video card for 3 weeks now. It's definitely a nice option for those of us with no AGP or PCI-e slots, who want to run the latest PC games. My old ATI Radeon 9250 card wasn't supported by an increasing number of recent game releases. The card was easy to install, although the install CD wanted to lay down a ton of unnecessary software. I disabled installation of all but just the driver. The card is functional in that it allows me to run my new games. I only get 4 frames per second on most games, but I wasn't expecting much more through my PCI slot. I payed $120 for this card. If this card were $80 or less, I would give it a '5' for value, instead of '4'. I mean, it's not exactly a high-performance card for gaming. It just gets the job done through your slow PCI bus. Overall, I'm happy, and thankful for the card, since my goal was to run my new games and not buy a new PC. Just set your expectations realistically on its performance.
Not a bad Card2/12/2008
All in all for an aging pci card this card will suffice until the Motherboard can be upgraded. Downloaded the latest drivers and They at best leave something to be desired. ATI or Visiontek either one need to get on the stick with XP Drivers.
Affordable quality. Easy as pie!10/15/2007
I have a six-year-old computer that needed some upgrades. I got rid of my 17" CRT monitor and replaced it with a 21.6" widescreen LCD. To maximize my new monitor's potential, I had to upgrade my graphics processing unit as well. I'm lucky to have stumbled upon VisionTek Radeon X1550 as a very viable and affordable replacement to my old nVidia graphics card. With very minimal effort, I installed the hardware myself, then the software, and when I restarted my computer, the video card adjusted to the native resolution (1680x1050) automatically. With a DVI cable and a good quality monitor, you're sure to get awesome, vibrant colors in all its digital glory. Now, this is only my first day having VisionTek Radeon X1550 in my computer, but it's made me (and my wallet) really, really satisfied and happy.
VisionTek Radeon X1550= For those looking a for Gr8/14/2007

Not what I was hoping for.8/12/2007
I thought I was going to get a good lil jump in performance over my Geforce 5600. What I got was a minor performance boost and a very buggy set of Vista Drivers. Hopefully in the near future ATI will have worked out the kinks in their Drivers software. I sold the card on eBay and just purchased my self a new tower. My oh my does this new machine purrrr.
