Liking it so far1/6/2013
While this was originally meant to be a gift for a friend to take more precaution, it has proven to serve multiple purposes. It was quite the hit at a party as everyone was curious to see just how drunk they were. So it can be fun, along with keeping people safe.
Could be better12/17/2012
I expected more. Product should have a volume button or at least a mute button for the beeping noises. Takes 10 seconds to warm up which doesn't seem long but it gets annoying waiting for it. And my biggest issue is if your BAC is high it doesn't give you a number read out only says "HI." Product also says to wait 20 minutes after eating or drinking to use which doesn't make much sense to me.
Super easy to use. Super reliable.12/4/2012
My nephew got a Dui a few years ago and has been preaching about putting a breathalyzer in both my wife and my car so we would never have to go through the nightmare he had to deal with after he got arrested. I spent some time reviewing many of the different breathalyzers on the market and ended up buying this Rottweiler model from Watchdog. I cannot tell you how pleased I am with this purchase. I narrowed my choices down to the brands using fuel cell sensors since I read that models using semiconductor sensors have proven to be dangerously unreliable. This model uses a police grade fuel cell sensor. I want to know my exact blood alcohol content before getting behind the wheel. It is so simple to use, that I’ve never actually read the instruction manual. My Watchdog shows quick and accurate results. This makes me pretty confident I’m getting a consistent reading. Using it is very simple; press the button, wait for a beep, blow with a deep lung sample and get your results. I was surprised at how I feel at the legal .08 limit. I would say that I don’t feel what I consider drunk at .08 and because of this, I can only imagine how many times I have driven “over the limit” without knowing. I am lucky to get to this stage of my life (64yrs) without a DUI knowing how low the legal limit actually is.
My wife and I have been using an Alcohawk breathalyzer for the past few years. It has saved us from getting a DUI on multiple occasions. It has recently stopped working so we bought this Watchdog model as a replacement. One thing I noticed was how the Watchdog reads very consistent numbers blow after blow. My old device used to fluctuate quite a bit which made me have to guess a number between my two blow readings. This device is dead on accurate which gives me more confidence. It cost me a bit more than I originally wanted to pay, but I do feel I got what I paid for with this one.
Better safe than sorry!11/23/2012
I enjoy going out with friends for drinks. Taxi's are expensive and not convenient. A DUI would ruin me in more ways than one since I know that it would land me in jail, raise my insurance and cost a fortune in legal bills!!!! I wasn't even aware that I could purchase a breathalyzer until I went to a friends party and they told us we should all check ourselves with their Watchdog Breathalyzer to make sure we don't get in trouble on the highway. I felt buzzed, not drunk and did not think I was over the limit... however, I blew a .092 which would have landed me in jail If I was pulled over! This was enough to make me to buy one and put it in my glove box so I never hit the road while over the limit. The device is quite small and comes with a woven carrying case, batteries and extra mouthpieces. It couldn't be any easier to use... just one button, blow, then read your results!
Wish I would have had one before my DUI11/23/2012
I just bought this so I never have to guess again. I blew a .08 in July and I'm currently trying to get my conviction turned into a wet reckless. I seriously didn't think I was considered drunk... A .08 is really low in my opinion. I like how this has only one button operation and is small enough to fit into sunglass holder in the car.
I got 1 for the car & 1 for the house!11/21/2012
I tried one of these at a friends house during a party and it worked great! It was nice to know exactly where I was in terms of being able to drive home that night so I pulled the trigger and got 1 for my car and 1 for my house for my next party so my friends will know if they are able to drive or not. It also was a cool party item, everyone wanted to try it so I'm looking forward to the next party with it!
