Great for new Macs, good for any modern machine.
In addition to the cables noted above, the drive does include a FireWire 800 cable, which works splendidly with (at least) the latest Mac mini. Unfortunately, it doesn't include a 800-to-400 cable or adapter, so can only be used as a USB drive with older machines unless you spring for another cable or have one handy. It does include some software for formatting the drive, which isn't really needed since the drive comes preformatted as HFS Extended (Journaled), and the standard Mac Disk Utility should be more than equal to the task of reformatting and/or partitioning the drive to suit. The user manual is also included as a PDF on the drive, so be sure to save at least the manual for your first language before you reformat the drive. All told, it looks like a capable drive, and should serve well as a backup drive or storage for large amounts of data (like all those movies I've been converting from my DVD collection to have handy for my Apple TV). If you're planning on archiving any data from an older machine (any PowerPC from Y2K on), plan on locating a FireWire 800-to-400 cable to save yourself some time.
