Customer Reviews of WD My Book Live 2TB Personal Cloud Storage NAS Share Files and Photos
Great Deal - great device3/30/2015
Excellent device -- up and running 5 minutes after unboxing.
Awesome personal cloud for home.1/9/2014
This cloud looks good, it's small, is fast, easy to setup & nice looking apps for it. I was able to set it up quickly and easily. You can add users.
Despite the ethernet connection, read/write is slow due to the limited chip and HD speed.
I love my cloud11/27/2013
These things are great! Easy to install and makes your network so much more versatile. I use mine to store hundreds of old movies I had on VHS tape. The space savings alone is amazing. And now these movies are available on any computer I choose to use. I've also put alot of older out of print LP records on the cloud as mp3 files. I even dedicated a section to old time radio programs. And with TB of storage, you can even load images of important install cds/dvds for safe keeping. Get one of these things. You won't know how you got along without it.

Hard deal to beat8/8/2013
I have had the WD My Book Live 2TB Personal Cloud Storage NAS for over a year. After the first one had a hard drive crash, which was quickly replaced by WD, it has performed flawlessly on my network. I don't use the Cloud feature, but as a file and media server, it's hard to beat for the price. Your getting a nice enclosure and a NAS for the price on the hard drive alone.
Nice Network Drive7/25/2013
The My Book drive came up quickly on my iMac's and my MacBook Pros. But not so quickly on my Windows 7 and XP computers. But it wasn't the My Book's fault there was an error in the security software on one of my Windows 7 PC. Once I fixed the error on the Windows 7 network interface. Now it works well with all my computers Mac and Windows and my Linux setups. and then I set it up on my Sony Blu-ray player and on my flat-panel television not hard.
Cute and small7/3/2013
Very easy to connect to IPhone4
Outstanding Vaue and easy to set up. After a quick set up of 1/2 hour we now have a cloud that is accessable anywhere and easily to access.
Nice device. I use it for one year. I use it manly for sharing media as Twonky server to my Samsung TV and to ArkMC application on my iPad. It works perfectly fine with this devices. But it is complicated for me to change some settings. Overall I'm satisfied with it.
The WD My Book Live arrived with a 3-step set-up instruction. 1-Go to web site. 2- Pick the picture that looks like yours. 3. Push Download software buttom. After that you just have to follow the on screen instructions. In less than 30 min. overall I had the three computers on my home network sharing the drive and auto backups being accomplished on selected files. The cloud computing took a couple of extra steps but they were well documented and not difficult. Overall a great purchase so far.
This is an awesome usb external hard drive. It is super fast and makes hardly any noise. It was easily detected by my Windows Server and did not even need to reboot my machine. The shipment was fast and hassel free. I will definately purchase more usb hard drives and recomend to all my friends.
Overwhelming for the novice12/11/2012
This Net Storage Device is full of features that I (a network novice) don't understand. I got it to backup my computers and store older files that are not on them and it works great for that purpose. I did have trouble setting it up and understanding what it does in addition to just storage. The teck support is very helpful if you get to level 2. I hope to learn more about it to use more of it's many features,
Work excellently so far12/7/2012
Work excellently so far. If I use cable to copy data, speed can reach 40MB/s. Better than I expected
This is a great usb hard drive. It is super fast and very quiet. The shipment was fast as well. The price is very resonable as they have dropped over the years. I use it to backup all my data in case my hard drive crashes. Definately will buy a couple more.
So far we are pleased with our purchase. We needed something to store lots of pictures and videos and files. We would recommend this product. It has several other features that we may never use.
WD My Book Live7/4/2012
Not a lot of experience yet. Seems to be okay, but it was very difficult to work with when our Internet connection was down (due to storm damage). Once the Internet was back, responses from the device were good.
pretty good. using to backup 3 computers and a pad.
Still trying to figure out5/28/2012
Good product. Still trying to figure out its potential. Networking could be better. Looking forward to updates for better integration to other programs and software.
Love this product, wish I had found it sooner.

Great for sonos1/2/2012
Yesterday I purchased one of these drives to use as a Network Attached Storage drive for my Sonos music system. This drive is perfect for that setup and exceeded my expectations. The setup for this drive is a snap. My PC and Sonos system recognized it with zero issues. The drive throughput is about 70Mb/s which is plenty for my purposes. Also (and a key feature for Sonos), this drive will spin down after inactivity and will even let you set how long it waits before spinning down (have not seen any other drive in this price range which will do that). Also, this drive comes pre-formatted with an NTFS file system so no reformatting is needed like with most external drives. Having a drive with NAS capabilities is excellent because you need less hardware to make the drive available to Sonos. Lastly, because the drive doesn't have an on/off switch, you won't have to worry if you lose power that you'll have to turn this back on (like with the old Linksys NSLU2). The only reason I don't give this five stars is because the "access over the web" part of the feature set is misleading. What you might expect is that this drive is available over the web through some sort of login and without the need of a PC to facilitate. Unfortunately you need all of those things to make this drive accessible over the web. The software WD provides to enable this, "MioNet", seems dated and rickety- not to mention NOT free. If leaving your PC on is acceptable for you, might I recommend downloading the Opera web browser and using their "Unite" service which will provide many of the same services as MioNet- but for *free*. Overall a strong purchase and a nice product. If you have a Sonos system and want your music available, then this is the drive you need.
