WD My Book Live Duo 6TB Personal Cloud Storage NAS Share Files and Photos - WDBVHT0060JCH-NESN
|Your media and files on your own personal cloud.|
Create your own personal cloud, without the monthly fees and mysterious location of your data. Store your media and files on the drive and access them securely over the Internet. Or, use WD's mobile apps for easy access with your tablet or smartphone. It's like having up to 3 TB of extra storage for your mobile device.
Double-safe backup with RAID 1 technology.
Set this system to data protection mode (also known as mirrored mode or RAID 1) and the capacity is divided in half. Half of the capacity is used to store your data and half is used for a second copy. In the unlikely event that one drive fails, your data is protected because it's duplicated on the other drive.
Maximum storage capacity with drive spanning.
Out of the box, this two-drive system combines both drives into one big volume so they act like one drive for maximum capacity.

Many possibilities, but works slowly4/15/2012
It took me about 2 days to convert the included disks into RAID 1 (mirroring system). Then I had about 2 TB of data to backup. It took me 10 days to get the job done with my laptop online 24/7. After the installation of the backup program, my laptop worked like a turtle and I had to shut the backup programs off after logging into my laptop. After another week, the NAS backup station stopped working and I could not access anything. I called WD, who sent me a new replacement. I thought a NAS backup system with RAID 1 would be the most secure backup system in the world, but when the internal OS crashes in it - you are screwed. Even I had nothing to do with the failure of the NAS backup system, I still had to pay the shipping cost to return the corrupt item :-( The service here could be better WD, especially after all this hassle and time spent for nothing! After getting the replacement of the NAS backup system, everything seems working and I don't know why, but after I deinstalled the backup program and reinstalled it after getting my new NAS, my laptop seems working fine again; not being a turtle. Note that this NAS cannot be connected to your laptop through any USB. It is connected to the router and it works very slow. Another thing is that you need to open up your internal firewall for the IP addrress to the NAS backup system to get access to it. This is not for beginners, but you may get help by calling WD. Get yourself e.g. SanDisk backup USB flash drive to backup your most sensitive data in addition to this NAS backup system. You can never trust anything!

Set-up is a nightmare. Extremely difficult to set-up/configure this product. Yes, features are nice on paper but it does not deliver what it promises.
