A ghost story with a terrifying villain at its heart, What the Night Knows is #1 New York Times best-selling author Dean Koontz at his chilling best. A must read for anyone who loves ghost stories, this impossible-to-put-down novel will also have great appeal for Dean Koontz''s legions of fans.
Annotation:
Now a successful homicide detective with a beautiful family, John Calvino has a dark past, laced with violence and loss. When he was only 14 years old, his family was brutally murdered by a killer who descended on his small Italian hometown. The only reason that John did not also become a victim was because he stuck first. Years later, a string of uncannily similar murders convince John that his family will be the next target. Is this a creepy copycat killing spree? Or a horrible ghost seeking revenge?
Author Bio
Dean Koontz
Along with Stephen King, Koontz is the preeminent horror writer of his age, selling millions and millions of books worldwide. Koontz had a horrific childhood; his father was an abusive alcoholic and his mother was mentally unstable, and they both actively discouraged him from pursuing a writing career. However, when the 12-year-old Koontz won an essay contest, the seed was planted. He studied education and was a high school English teacher from 1967 to 1969, at which point he began writing full time. At the end of the '90s, Dean Koontz has written nearly 80 books of suspense or horror.

Praise

"[T]his novel is deliberate, highly supernatural, somber throughout, and motivated by religious dread--one of Koontz's weightiest performances." (starred review) - Ray Olson 11/15/2010

"With characters made vulnerable by their all-too-human failings, Koontz has created a spine-tingling story that will definitely make readers want to keep the lights on!" (top pick) - Jill M. Smith 01/01/2011
