Editor's Note
The New York-based humor of Woody Allen and CURB YOUR ENTHUSIAM?s Larry David seems like a natural match, and the pair unite for the first time in this comedy. WHATEVER WORKS follows a rich man (David), who decides that he should be living a different, less-status based life. Evan Rachel Wood, Patricia Clarkson, Ed Begley Jr., and Michael McKean star in this film that marks Allen?s cinematic return to New York City.

Since his underrated nineties streak, Woody Allen has maintained his film-a-year pace with searching if erratic charm, pinballing between the lightest of comedies and his darkest dramatic impulses, sometimes within the same movie and often treading familiar paths. Professional Reviews

Hollywood Reporter
"Much of the film's humor revolves around outrageous character transformations....[The film does] serve as an excellent vehicle for both Wood, utterly charming here, and Clarkson, displaying her considerable comic talents." 04/23/2009

A.V. Club
"WHATEVER WORKS gives effective voice to Allen's jaundiced philosophy of life..." 06/18/2009

Rolling Stone
"Wood is totally beguiling in the role, absorbing Boris' cynicism but still charming him into marriage." 06/25/2009

Chicago Sun-Times
3 stars out of 4 -- "Larry David is the mind of the enterprise, and Evan Rachel Wood is the heart. David is a verbal virtuoso, playing the 'Woody Allen role' but with his personal shtick." 06/24/2009
