Nicknamed the Wicked Widow for her suspected role in her husbands death, Madeline Deveridge has a bigger problem in her late husbands ghost, which annoyingly haunts her into vowing to get rid of him once and for all. Reprint. *Author: Quick, Amanda *Publication Date: 2001/02/01 *Number of Pages: 330 *Binding Type: Paperback *Language: English *Depth: 1.00 *Width: 4.25 *Height: 6.75
From the Publisher:
Madeline Deveridge is aware of the whispers behind her back, the rumors that she dispatched her husband to the next world and concealed her crime. But she has a far more pressing problem than her reputation as the Wicked Widow. It's impossible to believe that her late husband is haunting her and her aunt, but something odd is happening, and Madeline doesn't dare take chances.

Summoning the brilliant, reclusive Artemas Hunt, secret owner of London's favorite pleasure pavilions and master of arcane talents, she blackmails him into providing help. As soon as the bargain is struck, Artemas and Madeline find their arrangement complicated by searing desire, and the frightening recognition that the ghost poses a very real danger. Now they must plunge into a world of intrigue and ancient mysteries, where a calculating killer — and a tantalizing passion — will not be denied.Madeline Deveridge is aware of the whispers behind her back, the rumors that she dispatched her husband to the next world and concealed her crime. Annotation:
Writing under the pen name prescribed for her steamy Regency romances, best-selling author Jayne Ann Krentz tells the juicy tale of Madeline Reed Deveridge, a young widow whose place in London's higher social circles was filled the second after she fired the first fatal shot at her brutish husband in self defense. To make matters worse, Madeline is now being haunted by her husband's no-more-appealing ghost, and her maid has just been kidnapped from the Dream Pavilions, a posh London pleasure garden. With the help of Artemis Hunt, a wealthy cult leader--and the new object of her affection--Madeline goes on a dangerous search for her unlucky servant that takes her through the erotic underbelly of English high society and shows her the true depth of her late husband's evil.
Author Bio
Amanda Quick
Jayne Ann Krentz, who writes under numerous pseudonyms, received a B.A. in history from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and a master's in library science from San Jose State University. She worked for years as a librarian at Duke University and at other libraries. Krentz writes many different kinds of romances under her various bylines, but themes such as loyalty and trust are present throughout her work, from her historical romances to her more contemporary romantic suspense novels. In an attempt to help others through her own success, she established the Castle Humanities Fund at her alma matter, UCSC, which enables the library to purchase books it would otherwise be unable to acquire. Krentz has also contributed to elementary schools in Seattle, hoping to provide as many children as possible with the books they need to learn.
