Don't let the awkward design fool you this is a decent controller. It's not compatible with all games but the ones like super smash bros. or most retro titles feels more natural than with the wii-mote. It doesn't plug directly into the wii, it uses the same port as the nunchuk under the wii-mote, which is disappointing since it means more batteries.Though this does make it near wireless, kinda. A direct connect option would've been convenient but you can always use a regular gamecube controller!
Classic controller works just as I would expect. There's not really anything fancy about which is ok because there's not a need for any extra bells and whistles. If you're playing downloaded Virtual Console games, these controllers are nice. The NES and SNES games work with the left analog stick (or you can use the D-Pad if you have tougher thumbs than me). The button layouts match up really well for every game we've tried so far.
