Author Bio
John Keegan
John Keegan grew up listening to father's stories of World War I. He himself was evacuated from London, as were many other children, during the blitz. Though never a soldier, he has sometimes been called the foremost military historian of the time.Keegan studied at Oxford, and he taught at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. He also worked as a correspondent for the the London Daily Telegraph. He is the author of many books on military history--and one of them, THE FIRST WORLD WAR, became a bestseller.

Kirkus Reviews
"Sturdy and illuminating...." 08/15/2002 Publishers Weekly
"This is a pithy, highly accessible biography that can be enjoyed over a couple of sittings." 08/19/2002 New York Times Book Review
"Keegan's is an excellent brief biography, but it suffers, as many biographies of Churchill do, from the constant, oceanic tug of his subject's long and multitudinous life against the brief span of time in which his greatness and importance shone." - David Walton 11/03/2002
