Customer Reviews of Wireless Mini Spy Camera (Complete System)
only worked for one half hour7/3/2012
The cam was great but it quit working right away
Works great, just what I wanted, nice clear picture. Good value for money.
I didn't realize until after I set up the kit, that our Linksys Wireless Access Point also runs on 2.4 GHz. The camera's transmission COMPLETELY shut down our wireless network when it was plugged in, and the interference from the Access Point made the signal from the camera to receiver very difficult to tune and maintain. I will have to try it out somewhere that doesn't use 2.4 GHz for Wi-Fi.
No issues with Interference6/26/2011
Don't wonder, actually test a product. Otherwise your review is useless. You can tune the frequency, which allows you to get away from your own wireless. I have one and never had any issues, but noticed that one end of the band was better than the other. The tuning knob on the receiver is large and very touchy....so you have to set it if you move it, because if you just brush into it, it will move. So unless you set it and get it out of the way, you will need to tune every time. This is only due to the knob being easy to turn.
2.4Ghz is great!6/26/2011
I don't own this either but I figure I needed to give it a good review to try to balance out the bad one. Wifi has technology such as spread spectrum or frequency hopping or other buzzwords that I don't understand that tend to make it not fail the moment there's another 2.4Ghz device around. Ideally buy.com would kill both reviews. There aren't many open frequencies for devices like this. 29Mhz, 900Mhz, 2.4Ghz, and 5.8Ghz. At least that's all the frequencies I can remember having cordless phones on. I do have a similar looking product and it's on some random frequency near 2.40Ghz. The receiver has a fine tune knob that's hard to pinpoint, telling me this only uses a very narrow frequency and would be safe around most networks. Again, that's a similar one, I don't have a clue how this one behaves.
Nice litle system6/26/2011
I have one of those systems in my store and now I need another one for my house. Didn't cause interference with my WIFI , this camera has a 4 channel frequency selector. So if by any chance it interfere with any other wireless device, you simply change the frequency to another frequency and it is ready. At first I grabbed one of those cameras just to play around with. I have to say, I wasn't expecting it to work all that great. I mean for less than $50 bucks what can you expect. This thing works great right out of the box. It took me about 5 mins to get it working. If you want to mess around with wireless video and don't want to spend a fortune, this little bugger is just for you. BUT PLEASE ... this thing is a tiny $50 wireless camera, you cannot expect it to produce HD quality video. The video this thing puts out is comparable to other web cams of around the same price or cheaper.
Great signal anywhere and awesome picture6/25/2011
Great spy system and clear picture reception.. Works perfect with wi-fi 2.4 ghz routers with no interference because it has 4 different channels to set it up.. Receive a lot more of what you pay for
Great for watching your kids6/24/2011
I set this up in the baby's room and hooked it up to my monitor in my office. Now I can always check in on the baby without having to leave my desk. On the contrary to the other reviewier I have not been getting any interference from my cordless phones or my wifi router. I don't know if this would be the case in every household, but I do live in a 300+ unit building and have not had any problems.
I have to wonder... is this on-sale because people don't want it due to wifi interference? It operates on the 2.4 GHz band... making it unsuitable for any home that has wireless networking, or is near another home that does. I was interested until I saw the frequency used.
