Customer Reviews of Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver
Beware you are purchasing a off brand item!8/1/2013
I must admit if I knew before hand, I was purchasing an generic made Xbox wireless controller receiver. I would not have bought it. I have an original one and it was ten times easier to install and get working. So if you do not mind an off brand product. You can save an extra $5-10 bucks. The item came in a timely manner I was very pleased with that, and the packaging wis satisfactory.
Blatent Internet ripoff11/29/2012
Windows 7 does not have any drivers for it, and the included software is incompatible with it.
this is not the product advertised, it is a cheap knock off. false advertising at its finest. I cannot get it to work with windows7, only xp
Not the Microsoft wireless receiver (Microsoft one says "Microsoft" on the front, not "XBOX 360"). With some driver hackery, it somewhat works on Windows 7 (have to find and install an old driver version or manually edit an .ini file), though only one works at a time - unlike the Microsoft hardware, you cannot plug two of these in (for 5 or more controllers). For those who need it, I put up working old drivers for this hardware here: http://thesilentb.com/files/PCReceiver2.0.2.zip
Not in "NEW" Condition11/3/2010
Bought it with it being new in mind, waited 3 weeks for shipping and when it came, it was used. Packaging was not factory and the CD was not in any sort of case or sleeve.
Beware, it a cheap knock off!!!!9/21/2010
This is NOT a Microsoft branded receiver as the page and manufacture info says it is. It a crap knock off that does NOT work any new OS (Windows 7). The official MS drivers won't work on this rip off and the provider drivers are not accepted by windows 7. Don't let the good reviews fool you, they are all old and were probably placed before W7. Buy.com was no better as they refused to refund me even though it was falsely advertised on their site.
Worked first time, every time11/18/2008
I struggled with off-brand corded USB controllers which would consistently stop working during a game, and wouldn't work at all with extension hubs. I wish I had bought this sooner. Plugged it in, turn on the XBOX controllers, everything worked first time every time.
The Last PC Gamepad You'll Ever Need.4/7/2007
I bought this specifically to play PC games that are more console like, and let me tell you, this is the perfect gamepad. If you're using any other gamepad for the PC then you're doing yourself disservice. -- Just keep in mind that if you're buying this wireless version of the Xbox 360 Gamepad and you want to use it on the PC you'll need to have the "Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows," which Buy.com also sells. No complaints; great design, and great experience with the device. Recommended.
Works Like A Charm!4/7/2007
Does just what it's supposed to do. Plug it in and then install the software that comes on the CD. Just make sure to restart to your PC after the software installation so that everything is recognized recognized properly. No complaints at all. More than worth its low price. - If you're considering buying it, then consider no more, just get it! Buy.com got this to me extremely quick as well. So Kudos to them on the shipping.
USB Compatibility what?3/16/2007
Don't get me wrong, this is a great idea. I got this a few weeks ago, unpacked it, followed the simple 6 instructions and within a few minutes was gaming with it. BRILLIANT! If they asked me to write this a few weeks ago, this would have received a 5. However, after installing this in my BRAND NEW computer, it would simply refuse to work. It installed correctly, was recognized, but the controller and receiver would NOT sync with each other. In order to sync i had to try it while the computer was restarting, with everything USB unplugged. HUGE PAIN IN THE NECK. Be cautious, this will NOT work for everyone, but is great if it does.
Works great with Skype2/28/2007
Hooked right up and paired with my wireless headset easy enough. Was able to talk to my bro in Hong Kong (from the states) with it. Sound quality was good, I would even say better than when using with XBL. Haven't tried the controller with it yet (hence the 4 stars instead of 5).
Great device for PC gaming, headsets might not sou2/14/2007
The wireless receiver works great with the two windows xp (pro/mce2005) systems I tested it on. I was thrilled to use the 360 wireless controllers for PC games, I really like the ergonomics, in fact I don't even own a 360 console and bought the controller exclusively for my PC. It required the drivers on the included CD, but install was a snap. It felt responsive although I didn't try a fps where lag may be more noticeable. I was excited that my cell phone's 3.5mm headset worked with it. Once I plugged it in to the wireless controller an xp popup came on screen saying a new usb audio device was found. The sound quality wasn't that great, but this was on a computer that only had USB 1.1, not sure if 2.0 would have made a difference. It may have been the old game I was playing or the headset I was using, but I only got mono in my right ear. Very happy with the purchase
