Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) is the 4KHz bandwidth service that delivers analog "dial tone" to your residence or business, that is widely used today by telephones, facsimile machines and modems. POTS filters and splitters enable high-speed DSL and POTS to share the same pair of wires. POTS splitters physically separate the voice signal (<4KHz) and the DSL data signal (4KHz-1, 100KHz frequency range) into two separate connections. Splitters are used at the central office (CO) to allow a voice channel to coexist with high-speed DSL data on the same twisted pair without the voice and data signals interfering with each other. The remote customer site might utilize a POTS splitter; a POTS filter may require nothing at all when low frequency Multiple Virtual Lines (MVLTM) technology is deployed. The Hotwire family of POTS products are all passive devices requiring no AC or DC power and deliver uninterrupted "lifeline" POTS regardless of the Hotwire modem being powered on or off.The Hotwire POTS Splitter chassis allows for flexible installation in the same rack as the Hotwire DSLAMs, an adjacent rack, or at a separate location near the MDF. These flexible mounting options were engineered to suit the particular wiring needs of the service provider.
