Excellent Gigabit Ethernet Switch6/24/2014
I use Netgear switches at work all the time but needed a Gigabit Ethernet switch at home and decided to try this ZyXEL GS108B 8 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch with Metal Housing & Green Energy Saving Technology and I'm glad I did - it runs great and saves power with the green energy technology (turns off unused ports and calculates the right amount of power needed depending on cable length) and runs cool because of the metal housing ... plus it's half the price of the Netgear switch. I would highly recommend!
Excellent value for extending network3/23/2013
I was looking for an affordable 8 port switch to extend the number of ports on my network. I have used Zyxel with very good sucess. I was not disappointed. The documentation is a little on the light side. The ports are not all the same. Some of them are higher priority for VPN phones and other applications. Bottom line is that the throughput passed my requirement to support HDX video on Netflix via Optimum Online. I would recommend this product.
Used to add extra gigabit ports. Using Window 7 and installed and works great. No issues and runs very cool. Small instruction sheet. No manual needed. Just plug it in and it works.
Works great for the price paid.
Sturdy (metal) and simple, like a switch should be. With this ZyXel it took 20 minutes to copy an 8gig folder. Still not what I'd call blazing fast, but a significant improvement.
Plug in and go6/11/2012
Used this to add more gigabit ports to my Apple Time Capsule. It is hooked up to a Macbook Pro, an Xbox 360, an Apple Airport Express and a Samsung TV. Works with the various 100/1000 devices at the max speed of each device.
Not compatible with Win74/20/2012
I have problems with one of my win7 computer. With XP it seems having no problems. 3 stars for this unit.
Product works as advertised. I am using it as a replacement for my Direct TV Whole House DVR distribution.
Great little 8 port gigabit switch2/20/2012
In use now for several days and have had zero problems, just plug up and go, that simple. One my longest cable run of 280 feet and cat 5 cable I get 78-88 meg transfer rate with zero errors. I plan on buying 4 more now for a couple of my customers who have small home office setups and meets those needs very well. I like the metal case instead of plastic for sure, it runs cool. I only wish they would put slots on the bottom to enable wall mounting.
Great value switch2/14/2012
It looks, works great. I hooked up with three computers and a TV. No problem. I am very happy with this product.
Worked great to expand my wired connections from a standard 4 port router. Just plugged it in and has worked greated ever since!
It just works3/6/2011
I used this to replace a Netgear 10/100 switch. Unlike my TrendNet gig-e switch it will fall back to 100mbps if it can't achieve gigabit speeds (long runs). It does not have a link speed light. Compared to the Netgear, the throughput was within 1mbps @ 100mbps. Good value for the money.
Easy to install and work great2/9/2011
Just took few minutes and got 8 extra ports for network.
Very simple to install8/30/2010
Not much to say, it adds more ports to your existing router. Just plug it in and that's it your ready to use.
Works great, as expected8/21/2010
Just plugged it in and it worked, except for one computer. The ethernet cable to that computer was made up of two, joined by a connector. The 8 wire connection needed for gigabit transfer apparently didn't carry past the connector. Be sure to use a single cable. I'm enjoying the speed. Very reasonable price and quick shipping.
