I bought this as a replacement for Zyxel 550 extreme. I like my old 550 because it is very solid and stable. The setup was not friendly though but once you passed the setup you've got your self a working router forever. Now to this X-550N: Like any product that Zyxel makes it is also very stable and solid. The menus are very easy step by step kind of setup. This router also has once touch wireless configuration in case you have one of those cards or laptops that support that feature. I never used it before. I like to enter codes and configure the network manually. One thing I should mention though I did not find any signal strength increase from my last upgrade (this may be due to I do not have any N compatible devices. Only B/G). This one supposed to have better coverage and it is not any better than the last Zyxel I used. The obvious difference is the ease of setup menus like I mentioned earlier. It may make a difference if you have Wifi N cards but I can't tell. Overall Zyxel routers are the best I've used sofar. They never lag or clog. At times I have more than 10 computers hooked up and all utilizing the network and the internet heavily and the zyxel routers handle all the load very well. I have used almost every thing else (Major brands from the store) and all failed in about one year strangely one or two months after the expiration of the warranty. Zyxel is the only brand that lasted with me and I only upgraded "just to upgrade". My old one is still working after three year of heavy use. I hope this helps you make a better decision.
