How to Celebrate National S’mores Day

I remember nights with my family huddled around a campfire, waiting for the marshmallows at the end of our sticks to melt to the perfect consistency for prime sandwiching between graham crackers and chocolate. And with National S’mores Day on Monday, August 10, 2020, I’m ready to bring that nostalgia back to life. Check out some fun and delicious ways to celebrate!

Go big or go home! Create a DIY s’mores bar in your backyard – try this Sterno S’mores Maker Campfire Kit from Ace Hardware – or make them inside your house on the stove, in the microwave, in the oven or on the grill. Dinner Then Dessert has some easy tutorials to create s’mores your way.

All you’ll need is:

Chocolate – Use basic milk or dark chocolate bars that we know and love, or try some fancy chocolate bars or other chocolate treats (like peanut butter cups) to jazz up traditional s’mores.

Graham Crackers – Classic honey graham crackers are a reliable option, but you don’t have to stick to those. Salty crackers make for a great sweet and salty s’more, or if your sweet tooth is screaming for more, use your favorite cookie.

Marshmallows – Get creative. Homemade marshmallows, in my opinion, taste way better than store-bought marshmallows, and you can create your own flavors for a fun twist. Check out this Homemade Marshmallows recipe from Sweet Tea and Thyme.
