What to Expect During Amazon Prime Day 2019

These days, there’s no need to wait until November to enjoy major discounts on all the items you’ve been eyeing. Amazon Prime Day is here once again, and it has quickly become one of the biggest shopping events of the year. It’s basically Black Friday in July. Now in its fourth year, Amazon Prime Day 2019 is expected to be the best yet. We’ve put together a little primer on Prime Day so you can spend less time searching for deals and more time snagging them. Here’s what to expect:

First off, what is Amazon Prime Day?

If you’re new to the party, Amazon’s Prime Day is a sales event held each year since Amazon’s 20th anniversary in 2015. This year, it’s a 48-hour event during which Amazon marks down hundreds of items (along with other stores that sell through Amazon) and other stores, like Walmart, Target and more, typically follow suit.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2019?

In 2019, Amazon Prime Day will run from Monday, July 15 to Tuesday, July 16. That’s a full 48 hours of some of the best deals of the year.

What’s the best way to shop Prime Day? How can I make the most of it?

Amazon continues to add to its Prime Day features each year. You’ll want to cover some basics to make the most of what Prime Day has to offer. Here’s where to begin:

  1. Start with Ebates. If you shop Amazon deals with Ebates, you’re eligible for Cash Back on already-low Prime Day prices. Not a member? Join now and start earning in the form of a Big Fat Check. You’ll get $10 after your first purchase of $25 in any participating store, and you can earn an additional $25 for every friend you refer. Right now, we’re offering up to 5% Cash Back in various departments, but you never know what the Cash Back offers will be once Prime Day rolls around!

  2. Become a prime member. You need to be an Amazon Prime member if you want to get the most from the sale. Prime members get early access to Prime Day deals and can start building their shopping lists up to one week in advance of the sale. Pro tip: If you’re not ready to commit to a full membership, you can sign up for a 30-day trial of the service.

  3. Share those membership privileges. Once you’re a member, you can share your membership with every family member in your household. You can add children 12 and up with special parental controls to prevent any unwanted orders.

  4. Shop your way. Take advantage of all that Amazon Prime Day has to offer on your desktop computer or mobile device with the Amazon app. You can also use voice commands via Alexa to shop for deals.

  5. Take advantage of extra Prime savings. Before the sale begins, there are a few ways you can add to your savings. First, you can get $10 for signing into the Amazon app for the first time. You’ll get an additional $10 after your first in-app purchase. Second, if you spend $10 at Whole Foods between now and July 16, you’ll earn $10 to use during Prime Day. Third, you can download Amazon assistant to get desktop notifications on deals you’re watching. For even more ways to save, check out Amazon’s full Prime Day guide.

What kinds of deals can I expect?

There are hundreds of discounted items up for grabs during Prime Day, but this year you can enjoy some special firsts. Gamers can get some serious discounts via the Twitch Prime storefront. We’ve heard discounts up to 30% on games and accessories. If you or a family member is heading back to college, there’s a special college deals collection with items up to 30% off. If that wasn’t enough, you can sign up for 4 months of Amazon music for only $0.99. And Marvel movies are $1.99 to rent for a limited time. You can expect big deals on electronics, small appliances, clothing and more. There are a variety of special coupons you can apply at checkout to save. They can be found here.

What are the best deals?

More information on deals pops up each day leading up to the sale, but here are some of the best deals at the moment:

Ninja Air Fryer

The Instant Pot was the kitchen gadget star of 2018, not to mention the top-selling item in the United States. We’re predicting air fryers will have their day in 2019. Ninja makes a variety of small appliances – from blenders to juicers – and its popular air fryer is currently 30% off.

Echo Input

Save $20 on the Amazon Echo Input, which turns any existing speaker in your home into a smart speaker with Alexa capabilities. You can stream music, ask Alexa questions, order Amazon Prime deals via voice commands and more. Last year, there were Alexa-specific deals that could only be accessed through voice ordering.

Fire TV Recast

If you’ve cut the cord but are missing your DVR, you’re in luck. The Fire TV recast is a DVR box built to record over-the-air TV channels that are accessible through an HD antenna attachment. Store up to 75 hours of programming and voice search your shows if you have a compatible Alexa-friendly device like the Echo Input or Echo Dot. Choose the 2 tuner model to record two shows at once and the 4 tuner model for recording up to four shows at once.

Apple AirPods

Save 10% on the ever-popular AirPods from Apple. This deal also includes a wireless charging case for portable power on the go.

Echo Dot

Want to add Alexa to every room in your home? You’ll need a few Echo Dots to get the job done. They’re on sale for $25 off so you can stock up during Prime Day and save all your questions for Alexa when you have your Echo Dots up and running.

These are some of the best deals we know about right now, but there are sure to be more as Amazon Prime Day 2019 gets closer. Keep checking Amazon in the days leading up to the sale, and remember to shop with Ebates to save even more with Cash Back. Happy deal hunting!
