What is the GDPR, and how does it affect Rakuten?

The GDPR is a regulation that affects how personal data about European residents is used and stored. Because Rakuten depends on our members’ data to link shopping activity to earning Cash Back, we must do additional work to ensure our services are in compliance. As a result, European residents will experience a disruption in their ability to use Rakuten.

Can I still use Rakuten to earn Cash Back if I live in Europe?

Not at this time, but you can still access your account.

What happens to my Cash Back if I can’t use Rakuten anymore?

Any Cash Back you already earned will be paid to you on our regular payment schedule. You’re not able to earn additional Cash Back at this time, but you can still access your account, including your payment history and any reservations.
