How do I use a credit or debit card at Rakuten.com?

Rakuten.com accepts domestic and international credit and debit cards as a form of payment at checkout for both account holders and guests. Account holders have the added bonus of being able to store multiple cards for easy access.

Credit and Debit Cards Accepted

The domestic and international credit and debit cards accepted at Rakuten.com are:

We do not currently offer the ability to use multiple credit cards on a single purchase, although we hope to offer that service in the future.

Also, please be sure to provide your exact billing address and telephone number as recorded with your credit card company to assure proper processing. P.O., A.P.O., or F.P.O. boxes are accepted for billing addresses, but we are unable to ship to them.

 
Using a Card as a Payment Method

If you are a first time customer or checking out as a guest, you can select a credit or debit card when you select your payment method on the “Payment” page during checkout.

If you are a returning Rakuten.com Account holder, you will skip the payment page and go directly to the confirmation page of checkout, the confirmation page. Please click the "Change" link to the right of the "Payment Method" header to change the payment method from the confirmation page.

This will bring you to the payment method page that will allow you to select a credit or debit card already added to your account or add a new one.


All orders using this payment method will require the 3 or 4 digit security code from the back of the card during checkout.

International Credit Cards

To provide your international billing address, please click the "Have an international address?" link below the "Save and Continue" button on the billing address Web form.

If you cannot locate a country from the list of countries in the drop down menu for international payment methods, it is because we do not accept credit cards originating from that country. We are always adding new countries to our list, so please check back for updates to that list.

If you are in the international payment method window and are looking for the United States, please return to the domestic payment method window. You can return to the domestic version by clicking the "Have a U.S. address?" link located below the "Confirm" or "Cancel" buttons.

While we can accept international forms of payment, orders placed on Rakuten.com can not be shipped internationally. Please go here for more information about international shipping.

 
Adding a Card to Your Account

To add a credit card to your Rakuten.com Account so you can select it at checkout, please:

  1. Click the "My Account" drop down menu at the top of any page
     
  2. Click "My Account"                                                                                                                                  
  3. Click on the "Add a New Payment Method" link under the "Payment Methods" header of the Payment category
     
  4. Log into your Rakuten.com Account

Here you will be able to enter all the pertinent information for your new credit card.

If you have an international method of payment, please click the "Have an international address?" link below the "Confirm" or "Cancel" buttons in the billing address section.

You can return to the domestic version by clicking the "Have a U.S. address?" link located below the "Confirm" or "Cancel" buttons.

 
Editing or Deleting Cards in Your Account

To edit or delete a credit card associated with your Rakuten.com Account, please:

  1. Click the "My Account" drop down menu at the top of any page
     
  2. Click "My Account"                                                                                                                                   
  3. Click on the "Edit or Delete a Payment Method" link under the "Payment Methods" header of the "Payment" category
     
  4. Log into your Rakuten.com Account

Here you will be able to set your default payment method, and edit or delete any payment methods already stored in your account by clicking on the appropriate button.
