As usual Woody Allen delivers a movie that is totally tacky and meaningless. I did buy this movie thinking that the way it was advertised it would be appropriate for my 8 year old. But I was soooooo discusted with it that I got the store to let me return it and buy A Bugs Life in place of it. I will say thanks to the people of Antz for this experience, I now check the movie out thoroughly before I buy it. Of course I now know not to by ANY movie with Woody Allen associated with it. Of course, what can you expect from a man with no morals that he sleeps with his wifes daughter!!!!!!

This movie is really geared towards adults. Kids will not understand it, and may enjoy it, but watching it with their parents make make the older types in the room who actaully get the sometimes off color jokes a tad uncomfortable. It's also pretty violent at times. This movie had AWFUL marketing. It's not really a kids movie at all, but a delightfully funny comedy that happens to be about Ants. For straightforward children's fare, see A Bug's Life, which along with MUCH MUCH better animation has a kinder sweeter brand of humor. I recommend that adults stick with ANTZ.

I thought this was an extremely entertaining film. Woody Allen's lines were hilarious and the animation was first rate. I think it is superior to A Bug's Life.

Give ole disney a kick in the .....

by John on 6/16/1999

Antz proves that disney is not the most formidable animation production company. They were able to get Antz out and viewed to a larger audience than bugs. For all of disneys attention to detail, they missed one critcal thing...ants have three sets of legs. aside fron the technical jargon, Antz gives kids a view that is easilly accepted and understood while giving us parents a little subtle humor that our youngin's will not understand for another 10 to 15 years. Any way you slice it, Antz is a class act!!!

Review As a technical achievement, Antz fills one with awe. The computer-generated graphics are remarkable; there are several breathtaking scenes, with the most ambitious being the carnival-like ride that Z and Princess Bala (Sharon Stone) take while gummed to a young lad's sneaker. Music is also used repeatedly and cleverly for comic effect ('High Hopes' closes the film). Lastly, the ants themselves are amazing creations, combining accurate physiognomy with detailed characteristics to produce unique, easily identifiable insects.

Review Allen sounds wonderfully invigorated by the chance to play a guy with all those legs -- and all those ant-specific reasons for angst...Antz works best just showing off its prodigious voice talent (Anne Bancroft, Danny Glover, Jennifer Lopez and Christopher Walken are also in the cast) and playing lightheartedly with the curious possibilities of a buggy world.
