About the Author:
Willa Shalit is an author, artist and activist-entrepreneur who uses the arts for social change. She produced Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues and was instrumental in raising it from a fringe play to a global phenomenon. With Ensler she co-founded V-Day, the global movement to stop violence against women. Shalit served as Special Advisor to the United Nations Development Fund for Women and is an internationally recognized sculptor who founded the Touch Foundation so the blind could "see" sculpture in museums. She was the subject of the Emmy-winning documentary Willa: Behind the Mask. Daughter of of NBC movie critic Gene Shalit, she lives in New York and Santa Fe with her husband and daughter.
